Gold Club Loyalty Program
Designing A New Mobile App for Client’s Custom Patient Loyalty Program
Taking on the roles of a UI and UX designer, I partnered with our lead (full-stack) developer and another visual designer to create this new app for a client’s new patient loyalty program (think Starbucks Rewards, Dominos’ Pizza the Pie Rewards, etc.). The client came to us with a basic loyalty program, which was simply laid out as:
Members would earn points for purchases made at the client’s practice, or for the occasional bonus
These points could then be cashed in for discounts and savings on treatments offered by the client’s practice
There was an “Elite Status” once a member reached a certain number of points, which would give them access to larger discounts or exclusive events
Determining how to get this into a mobile app that the members could use to keep track of their points – as well as a web app that the client could use to manage the program – was up to our little unit.
I was in charge of figuring out the best way for members to use the app, as well as how it would best communicate back with the client’s web dashboard (separate from this app).
I knew the app would need to do a few major things:
Allow members to earn points for their purchases through the app
Allow members to view and track their current points
Allow members to redeem these points for rewards
Allow the client to view and manage all member statistics (Although, this would need to be done through a separate web app)
In addition, the client had a wishlist of their own, which included:
A way to send push notifications to members with the app (Managed via the web app)
A way to create new specials or events that would appear in the app (Managed via the web app)
A menu of services offered at the client’s practice
A way for members to easily contact the client or get directions to their practice
Once the user flow was nailed down and we were happy with the wireframes, I started working on the UI of the app – skinning it based on the client’s brand and aesthetic.
The main dashboard can be viewed here…
I designed the dashboard to show all the information that members would care about most:
Their loyalty card, which would flip to a QR code and their unique ID number for easily earning points at the practice
Their available rewards points
Their current membership status and total annual points earned (which determined their membership status)
The date of which their annual points and status would reset
And just below the fold was a button for the program rules and regulations
The final app was built in react native and it is now available on both the Google Play and the Apple App stores.
